Wamboin, Bywong and Sutton FTTP Network

Better broadband access is coming soon

We’re proud to be working with the NSW Government’s Regional Digital Connectivity program as part of the Gig State project to build a fibre network in Wamboin, Bywong and Sutton, so that over 1,300 residents will be able to enjoy superfast, reliable broadband.

About Opticomm and the network

As one of Australia’s largest wholesale independent providers of broadband networks, we’re committed to delivering reliable, high-speed connectivity to communities across Australia. Our FTTP network will be delivered using next-generation technology that will easily keep pace with the bandwidth needs of today and tomorrow.

What is FTTP?

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) is a connection type that uses only fibre cabling to connect premises to the Opticomm network.

How the network rollout will occur

Right now, we’re building the network so that you can enjoy access to better services. Work to physically connect premises will commence in early 2023 and will be progressively rolled out throughout each area. Getting connected will require work for us to connect each premises to the fibre network.  Residents will be engaged at the project initiation stage, anticipated to start later this year, with regards to carrying out the required works at their premises. Any residents who wish to opt out may do so at this stage. For those who do opt out, additional connection charges may be incurred if they wish to have their premises connected at a later stage.

Standard example of how the FTTP network will deliver superfast broadband access to residents:

As a wholesaler, we build, own and maintain the infrastructure that connects premises to the internet. Phone and internet providers then offer services over our fibre network to end users. Once a premises is connected to the network, you’ll need to contact your preferred Opticomm phone and internet provider (service provider) to choose a plan that suits your needs.
