Wamboin, Bywong and Sutton FTTP Network How the internet gets to you
How the internet will get to you

From the web to your home

Below is a summary of how the internet will get to you and the role Opticomm plays.

What is FTTP?

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) uses fibre optic cables to connect your home to the internet. FTTP in most cases is a faster and more reliable access technology than other types such as copper, wireless or mobile.

Opticomm vs your internet provider

As a wholesaler, we build, own and maintain the infrastructure that connects premises to the internet. Internet providers then offer services over our fibre network to end users after a premises is connected to the network.

Role of Opticomm

Opticomm is a wholesale network operator of the ‘access’ part of the network. Opticomm delivers your service and acts as one link in the chain of network providers that your service provider utilises to deliver an internet service to your home.

Role of your service provider

Your contract for an internet service is with your service provider. This means your service provider is responsible for the end-to-end delivery and support of your service. Service providers are responsible for placing service calls and following up any wholesale access providers they used to deliver your service.
