Opticomm brings city connection to Country Heights

Opticomm has begun works on Country Heights in the Western Australia town of Gingin, bringing its signature high-speed fibre-to-the-premises service to the fledgling estate located about an hour north of Perth.

The property developer behind Country Heights, Claymont, had struggled to lock in a telecommunication infrastructure provider during its 10 year lifespan, with the site’s country location proving difficult for other players in the FTTP market.

Claymont’s newest estate prides itself on a picture-perfect country lifestyle, with rolling hills, sweeping views from nearby mountains, and a close-knit local community enjoying huge blocks ranging from 1 to 2.8 hectares.

Claymont’s project manager Nita Subramaniam appointed Opticomm last September, allowing the developer to also boast industry-leading internet speeds as a drawcard to its estates – the last piece of the puzzle.

She soon realised that one of the Opticomm’s many points of difference was its ability and willingness to install the 7 kilometres of backhaul infrastructure required to reach the Gingin townsite, which is what allowed Country Heights to connect to Opticomm’s network.

It was this ability and willingness that motivated Claymont to pursue an Opticomm installation.

Claymont chairman Jerry Goh believes the unique country offering with suburban connectivity will be a huge drawcard for buyers.

“ The most unique thing about Country Heights is the block sizes, which are significantly larger than their suburban counterparts, despite carrying the same price tag – which is proving popular among buyers so far.

“ The installation of Opticomm fibres means that residents can get a bigger block in a picturesque region without sacrificing the high-speed internet and connectivity that they’d be used to from the inner-city,” he said.

Opticomm state manager Kevin Chambers believes the project typifies what most regional homebuyers are now seeking when they look for property.

“ At Country Heights they’ll have access to industry-leading technology and internet speeds, meaning they can stay connected while still living in their desired region.

“ Our backhaul installation spans 7 kilometres, back to the Gingin townsite, allowing the estate to connect to internet faster than what they’d probably be used to in their current homes,” he said.
